On May 29, 2023, National Student Clearinghouse discovered that one of its third-party software toolsMOVEit Transfer, had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessedThrough its investigation, National Student Clearinghouse determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive personal identifiable information through a vulnerability in the MOVEit file transfer applicationRecentlyNational Student Clearinghouse posted a notice of the breach on its website, which states that it is conducting an extensive investigation with assistance from outside experts and will continue to provide updates as more information becomes availableThe exact type of personal information has not been made publicly available by National Student Clearinghouse
