Founded in 1912, Citarella and Lockwood & Winant Seafood started as a passion for owner Joe Guerrera, who grew up working in his family’s fish shop in Greenwich Village. Headquartered in New York, New York, Citarella and Lockwood & Winant Seafood operates seven locations across Manhattan, the Hamptons, and Greenwich, Connecticut.
WHAT HAPPENED?
On or around May 30, 2023, Citarella and Lockwood & Winant Seafood discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, Citarella and Lockwood & Winant Seafood determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed and obtained this sensitive information through a ransomware attack on or around February 10, 2023. On June 30, 2023, Citarella and Lockwood & Winant Seafood began contacting individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Driver’s license or government issued state identification number
- Date of birth
- Financial account information (e.g., credit card numbers, bank account numbers, account usernames and passwords)
- Health insurance information
- Medical treatment information
