As a mental health clinic, New Horizons Medical offers treatment for alcoholism and opioid addiction as well as general mental health counseling. New Horizons Medical specializes in addiction treatment, behavioral health services, counseling services, psychotherapy, and social worker services. Founded in 2009, New Horizons Medical began as a single treatment center in Framingham, Massachusetts focused on opioid addiction. Today, New Horizons Medical has expanded to 6 locations across Massachusetts in Framingham, Brookline, Haverhill, Lynn, and Quincy.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On April 19, 2023, New Horizons Medical discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed. Through its investigation, New Horizons Medical determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information between February 12 and April 23, 2023. On June 15, 2023, New Horizons Medical began contacting individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license number
  • Date of birth
  • Address
  • Financial account number
  • Medical record number
  • Health insurance information
  • Medical information
