WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, Ascension Seton discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed. Through its investigation, Ascension Seton determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information between March 1 and March 2, 2023 through two legacy websites—seton.net and dellchildrens.net. On June 6, 2023, Ascension Seton issued a statement stating its legacy websites were breached earlier this year. The type of information exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license number
  • Address
  • Health insurance information
  • Medical information
  • Financial information (e.g., account number, credit or debit card)
