Kibble Equipment Data Breach Investigation

Kibble Equipment is a licensed John Deere dealership that mainly operates out of southern Minnesota. As a John Deere dealership, Kibble Equipment specializes in providing farmers, landscapers, construction workers, and homeowners with a wide variety of agricultural, lawn, and commercial products. Indeed, Kibble Equipment’s product line includes everything from lawnmowers and utility vehicles to harvesting platforms and world-renowned tractors. Additionally, Kibble Equipment offers maintenance services and unique financing options. Headquartered in Owatonna, Minnesota, Kibble Equipment operates 22 dealerships across Minnesota, South Dakota, and Iowa.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On January 12, 2023, Kibble Equipment discovered that its vendor, Razor Consulting Solutions, had experienced a data breach through its cloud computing partner, Rackspace Cloud Services, in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed. Through its investigation, Kibble Equipment determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information. On April 10, 2023, Kibble Equipment began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. Although much information is unknown, the type of information impacted includes:

  • W-9 form information
  • Customer exemption certificate information
