WHAT HAPPENED?

On January 27, 2022, Lutheran Social Services of Illinois discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed. Through its investigation, Lutheran Social Services of Illinois determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information through a ransomware attack. On January 25, 2023, Lutheran Social Services of Illinois began contacting individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth
  • Driver’s license number
  • Financial account numbers
  • Health insurance information
  • Biometric information
  • Medical diagnosis and treatment
