TruConnect Data Breach Investigation

Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating TruConnect regarding its recent data breach. The TruConnect data breach involved sensitive personal identifiable information belonging to at least 54,200 individuals.

TruConnect is a telecommunications and wireless service provider that specializes in offering wireless internet services through subsidized federal programs. Since it was founded in 2011, TruConnect has sought to provide consumers with phone and internet solutions by leveraging the federal Lifeline program. Additionally, TruConnect offers qualifying individuals a variety of benefits, including unlimited talk, text, and data, as well as free international calling and a complimentary smartphone. Headquartered in Los Angeles, California, TruConnect conducts business in 37 states, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. TruConnect employs over 200 individuals and has an annual revenue of approximately $3 million.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, TruConnect discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed. Through its investigation, TruConnect determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information between February 20 and February 21, 2022. On January 11, 2023, TruConnect began contacting individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
