Known for its use of Western red cedar, Alta Forest Products prioritizes sourcing its material from sustainably grown forests in the Pacific Northwest, using Sitka spruce and Douglas fir to offer a range of different fence boards. Headquartered in Chehalis, Washington, Alta Forest Products operates four sawmills throughout Washington and Idaho. Currently, Alta Forest Products employs over 400 individuals and manufactures more than 10,000 truckloads of wood fencing annually.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On September 1, 2022, Alta Forest Products discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed. Through its investigation, Alta Forest Products determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information between August 17 and August 31, 2022. On October 25, 2022, Alta Forest Products began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth
  • Financial information (e.g., account number)
  • Employee health plan enrollment status
