Additionally, Minka Lighting manufactures a variety of ceiling fans. Minka Lighting manages seven brands to market its products, which include traditional, contemporary, and transitional styles. Headquartered in Corona, California, Minka Lighting employs more than 200 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On July 29, 2022, Minka Lighting discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems was accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, Minka Lighting determined that an unauthorized actor accessed and obtained this sensitive information between June 27 and June 29, 2022. Some of this information was subsequently posted online. Furthermore, Minka Lighting concluded that sensitive information may have also been accessible between December 16, 2021, and April 5, 2022. On October 27, 2022, Minka Lighting began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The exact type of information has not been disclosed by Minka Lighting. However, according to state reporting guidelines, “personal information” can include the following types of information:

  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license number
  • Financial information
  • Medical information
  • Taxpayer information
  • Personal identification number issued by the United States IRS
