WHAT HAPPENED?
On August 20, 2022, Mount Vernon Mills experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems was accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, Mount Vernon Mills determined that an unauthorized actor accessed and obtained this sensitive information through accounts related to the company’s retirement plans. Additionally, Mount Vernon Mills discovered that some of the data taken from its systems may have been sold on the dark web. On September 29, 2022, Mount Vernon Mills began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:

- Social Security number
- Date of birth
- Address
