Family Medicine Centers Data Breach Investigation

Today, Family Medicine Centers comprise 15 healthcare organizations and 75 trained providers. Headquartered in Amarillo, Texas, Family Medicine Centers includes clinics around Greater Amarillo and Canyon, Texas.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On July 26, 2022, Family Medicine Centers discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed. During its investigation, Family Medicine Centers determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information by launching a ransomware attack. On September 23, 2022, Family Medicine Centers began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth
  • Address
  • Health information
