American Health Imaging Data Breach Investigation

Additionally, American Health Imaging provides easy access to its imaging technology, such as upright MRIs and non-claustrophobic scanning. Founded in 1998, American Health Imaging has quickly expanded to more than 26 different locations across five states. Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, American Health Imaging employs more than 100 individuals and 80 certified radiologists.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On December 24, 2021, American Health Imaging experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its system may have been accessed. Through its investigation, American Health Imaging determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information between December 17 and December 24, 2021. On September 8, 2022, American Health Imaging began the process of notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Health insurance information
  • Medical information (e.g., record number, patient account number, physician name, date(s) of service, diagnosis or treatment information)
