WHAT HAPPENED?
On July 21, 2022, Nelnet Servicing discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its system may have been accessed. Through its investigation, Nelnet Servicing determined that an unknown actor may have accessed this sensitive information belonging to its clients, including Edfinancial Services, LLC and the Oklahoma Student Loan Authority, between June 1 and July 22, 2022. On August 26, 2022, the Nelnet Servicing began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Address
- Contact information
