WHAT HAPPENED?

On August 4, 2022, a vendor of KeyBank informed KeyBank that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information of KeyBank’s residential mortgage clients may have been accessed and acquired. The vendor that experienced the data breach was Overby-Seawell Company, which provides KeyBank ongoing verification that KeyBank’s residential mortgage clients maintain property insurance. Overby-Seawell Company informed KeyBank that, on July 5, 2022, an unauthorized actor gained access to its network and acquired sensitive information belonging to KeyBank clients. On August 26, 2022, KeyBank began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Mortgage property address
  • Mortgage account number(s) and mortgage account information
  • Social Security number
  • Home insurance policy number
  • Home insurance policy information
  • Property information
