Founded in 1973, Jameco Electronics offers more than 30,000 name brand electronic components to businesses, individuals, and educational institution clients. Jameco Electronics also offers a large stock of in-house and generic brand components that it prices 15% to 25% less than name brand components. Additionally, Jameco Electronics sells its own branded products under the ValuePro, ReliaPro, BenchPro, and KitPro lines.
WHAT HAPPENED?
On or about April 23, 2022, Jameco Electronics discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the personal identifiable information of employees in its system was accessed. Jameco Electronics disclosed that the breach was a ransomware attack in which the hackers accessed HR files relating to current and former employees. On July 14, 2022, Jameco Electronics began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Address
- Date of birth
- Pay Rate
- Contact information (phone number, email, emergency contact name)
- Bank information
- Driver’s license number
- Passport number
