Today, Cavender’s has become the fastest growing Western wear chain in the United States. Headquartered in Tyler, Texas, Cavender’s has stores in more than 80 locations across 11 different states. Over the years, Cavender’s has grown and expanded to employ over 1,800 individuals.
WHAT HAPPENED?
On April 28, 2022, Cavender’s discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its system may have been accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, Cavender’s determined that its employee benefits and payroll files had been accessed and were copied from its system. On July 20, 2022, Cavender’s began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Address
- Financial information (e.g., account number, credit or debit card number)
- Health insurance information
- Medical information
