WHAT HAPPENED?
On April 21, 2022, the American Dental Association discovered it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal information of individuals in its system may have been accessed and acquired. The American Dental Association disclosed that the data breach was a ransomware attack but has not yet disclosed the specific types of information exposed. However, various reports online indicate that the hackers responsible for the ransomware attack have posted a sample of the stolen data online. According to reports, the data posted online includes W2 forms, NDAs, accounting spreadsheets, and information on American Dental Association members. Recently, the American Dental Association began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted.
