WHAT HAPPENED?
On November 11, 2021, Centerspace discovered that it had experienced a data breach that disrupted access to its computer systems. Through an investigation, Centerspace determined that an unauthorized actor may have gained access or acquired personal information in Centerspace’s system. On July 14, 2022, Centerspace began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The exact type of personal information has not been disclosed by Centerspace. However, according to state reporting guidelines, “personal information” can include the following types of information:
- Social Security number
- Driver’s license number
- Financial information
- Medical information
- Taxpayer information
- Personal identification number issued by the United States IRS
